Designed and engineered at Hyundai’s Frankfurt design center, the Tucson’s European origins are evident in its aggressive, stable stance. The styling of its sculpted hood, wrap-around headlights and rear roof spoiler further set it apart from every other CUV on the road.

Considering the amount of time we spend with our vehicles, Hyundai engineers figured it should at least be easy to get in and out of them. The Tucson’s well-proportioned door openings were designed with this exact goal in mind. And supportive seats, set at a comfortable height, ensure that you enjoy every mile of your stay.

Once you’re in the Tucson, look up - all you’ll see is open sky. The available panoramic sunroof extends from the front seats to the back, bringing in light, fresh air and bliss.

Technically it’s a CUV, and you’ll be amazed by the features, technology and usable space packed into the Tucson’s graceful frame.

With a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel and a driver seat that can be configured eight ways, there’s a sweet spot for the Tucson driver. The spacious leather-appointed passenger cabin, with heated front seats and automatic climate control, maximizes comfort no matter how long or short your drive. Easily accessible controls, well-lit gauges and a dash set lower for better visibility, further enhance the driving experience, while an intelligent trip computer keeps you updated about your average speed, average MPG and even how many miles to empty.

The Tucson has plenty of cool tech options to get you where you’re going quickly and safely. Like an integrated Bluetooth hands-free phone system that lets you take calls on the road, without taking your hands off the wheel. There’s also the Tucson Navigation System, with a rearview camera for backing up, and XM® NavTraffic, with real-time road conditions, that’ll help you avoid traffic jams, and give a clear picture of alternative routes.

Exactly how large is the Tucson cargo bay? For example, you can easily fit three snowboards in the back – and that’s with the seats up. Fold down the 60/40 split rear seats and the 55.8 cu. ft. before you is more than enough to hold a mountain bike. Other storage options abound, with convenient map pockets and bottle holders integrated into door panels, a center armrest compartment and even a convenient storage tray for the rear cargo area. There’s even a retractable hook on the rear seatback to keep shopping bags in their place. Not only does the Tucson have more passenger volume than comparable vehicles from Nissan, Ford and Jeep, it deploys all this extra space far more thoughtfully.

Based on driving conditions, the Intelligent Torque Controlled Coupling at the heart of the Tucson AWD system adjusts torque distribution between front and rear wheels, for better handling and mileage. With increased traction and the standard 18-inch tires on the Limited, the Tucson takes on mud and snow with assurance.

Powerful yet fuel efficient, the Tucson’s thrifty 2.4L 4 cylinder engine goes the extra mile for you. On less fuel. Using features that maximize fuel economy, your Tucson works smarter, not harder. The available automatic transmission has an overdrive lock-up torque for better fuel economy at highway speeds and an Eco Indicator providing driver feedback for lower fuel consumption. And the manual transmission has the Eco gear shift indicator that senses the optimum time for gear change.

The six-speed automatic gives you the best of both worlds, an automatic to deal with city traffic and SHIFTRONIC's clutch-less manual shifting for whenever you feel the urge to take complete control.

Comprehensive and advanced safety technologies, including Hillstart Assist Control and Downhill Brake Control, are standard on every Tucson. Makes you wonder what else they included.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control System (TCS) work in tandem to prevent skids and maintain traction helping keep the vehicle under control even in difficult conditions. Research has shown that in single vehicle incidents, ESC equipped SUVs are in 67% fewer crashes, experience 63% fewer fatalities and an astounding 80% reduction in rollovers. In fact, with ESC, all fatal collisions fell 52%. Reason enough for Hyundai to make both systems standard on the Tucson.

The Tucson is equipped with Active Front Head Restraints, for protection against whiplash. The restraint uses body weight to react in a collision, making it simple, yet extremely reliable.

Six airbags are standard. While the side curtain airbags are equipped with rollover sensors to protect occupants from front and side impacts. The integrated Occupant Classification System even adjusts the force of deployment depending on the size of the front seat passenger. Should the front seat be unoccupied, the passenger airbag won’t activate at all, saving on future repair costs.

Offered as options or upgrades by some competitors, Tucson’s standard Hillstart Assist Control minimizes backward roll when stopped on steep hills, while the Downhill Brake Control helps you maintain control when you’re headed down a steep hill.
